St Josephs Special School caters for pupils with a moderate general learning disability.
Approximately 50% of our pupils have ASD or multiple disabilities.

This is a vacancy for a maternity leave - we have two maternity leave vacancies to fill this year and will create a panel for the next vacancy.

There are 13 teachers currently working at St Josephs School alongside 27 SNAs and other support staff.

Experience working with pupils with special needs, ASD, physical, sensory and complex difficulties in a special school is essential.
Experience with working with pupils who present with behaviours that challenge including actual or potentially aggressive behaviours is essential.

Please specifically give some detail your experience of these essential criteria in your letter of application.

Experience in the following is desirable and will be used to help shortlisting candidates for interview:
planning and implementing programs linked with personal hygiene, toileting, hoisting, behaviours that challenge, physiotherapy, speech and language, OT, aquatics.
Experience with the Junior Cycle Curriculum is desirable.
Experience in the use of IT (Ipads, computers, websites, interactive whiteboards) and LAMH sign language.
Subject interest in areas of Maths and Sciences.
