Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Abacas Special School is a special school for pupils aged 4-18 years of age with a diagnosis of Autism and complex needs. Pupils are grouped in classrooms of 6 and have access to 3-4 SNAs per class. Abacas is evidence based and implements individualised educational and behavioural programmes for all pupils. Abacas follows the primary school curriculum and has recently adopted the L2LP Junior Cycle curriculum for pupils of secondary school age.
The successful applicant will have significant experience working in a similar setting. Knowledge of PECS, Lamh, TEACCH, and assistive communication is a distinct advantage. The successful applicant will also have excellent interpersonal and team working skills. Experience implementing positive behaviour management is an advantage.
