Kilnamanagh Community National School (CNS) will open in August/September 2019 under the patronage of Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB).

This school operated for the past 150 years as a Church of Ireland school and recognising the need for a multidenominational option in the area, it was decided that the school would become a CNS in September 2019. Community National Schools (CNS) are publicly-funded, publicly managed multidenominational schools that welcome all children from the local communities they serve.
There are 14 other Community National Schools around the country and it is expected that the model will grow substantially over the coming years. Kilnamanagh CNS is the first one to open in Wexford. For more information about the CNS model, visit www.cns.ie.

WWETB is now inviting applicants for this teaching principalship. Although the school will not open until August/September, there is a great deal of planning and promotion to be done in advance of the school opening. WWETB is confident that this school offers something unique in the area and that enrolments will grow further as the school becomes more established.

The successful candidate will show a deep commitment to multidenominational education and developing an inclusive school environment. S/he will demonstrate an ability to build up a school community and enhance the profile of the school in the local area. The successful candidate will also clearly show their vision for how Kilnamanagh CNS will live out the core values underpinning the characteristic spirit of the CNS model.

The successful candidate will be based in WWETB’s head office in Wexford until the school opens.

In addition to the above, the following are desirable:
• Experience of teaching in a multi-grade setting
• Evidence of a commitment to using innovative teaching methodologies
• A commitment to Continuous Professional Development
• An ability to demonstrate leadership capacity either through the holding of a leadership post in school or working as part of a strategic leadership team
• Experience of leading and assisting in the development of educational projects, policies and practice
• Líofacht agus suim sa Ghaelige
• Excellent Communications Skills
• An understanding and knowledge of Education and Training Boards, roles, remit and functions
• Excellent ICT and presentation skills

Appointment will be subject, but not limited to, satisfactory references, current and continuing Teaching Council registration, occupational health screening and satisfactory Garda Vetting.
