St Mary’s Special School is a warm, inclusive school community supporting pupils aged 4–18 with a wide range of learning needs. The school caters for students with a Mild General Learning Disability as their primary diagnoisis as well as students with Autism and a co‑occurring Mild or Moderate Intellectual Disability.
We are inviting applications for the following positions:

Applicant Criteria
Essential Requirements
Minimum qualifications as required by the Department of Education and Skills.
Experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs, including Mild/Moderate General Learning Difficulties, ADHD, Autism, and behaviours of concern.
Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies.
Desirable Experience and Skills
Experience in a special school or special class setting.
Relevant additional qualifications or training (e.g., QQI Level 5 in SEN, First Aid, CPI/Dynamis, CPD courses).
Experience supporting pupils with Autism, communication needs, PECs, Lámh, ISL, behaviours of concern, intimate care needs (toileting, nappy changing), and administration of medication.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary school team, contributing to pupil progress reviews, IEP planning, and Pupil Support Plans.
Confidence working in high care environments and supporting pupils through the implementation of individualised behaviour support plans developed in partnership with the Class Teacher.
Understanding of escalated behaviours and the ability to contribute ideas that promote safety, dignity, and respect for all pupils.
Flexibility, initiative, and strong day to day problem solving skills.
Competence in I.T. (Microsoft Word, iPad/laptop use, email, etc.).
Willingness to continue professional learning and upskilling.
