St. Michael’s Preschool and After-school Service is located in St. Michael’s National School (a designated DEIS school) located in Ballyfermot.
We offer a sessional pre-school service each morning, Mon-Fri for children aged from 2 years 8 months to school going age.
We also offer an after-school service each afternoon for children from Junior Infants- 6th class who attend St. Michael’s National school.
We are at present recruiting for the following position:
AIM Support Worker Starting 28th August 2025
8.50 – 11.50 Monday to Friday Term Time
• To guide, observe and stimulate the quality of early years’ provision, including physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for children in the pre-school and after-school groups.
• To work in close co-operation with the Early Years Manager, the Deputy Manager and other team members.
• To assist in the planning and implementation of an age appropriate programme of activities.
• Establish and sustain a safe, welcoming, purposeful, imaginative, stimulating and encouraging environment where children feel confident and secure and are able to develop and learn.
• Use informed observation and other strategies to monitor children’s activity, development and progress systematically and carefully, and to use this information to inform, plan and improve practice and provision.
• Plan and provide safe, appropriate, child-led and adult initiated experiences, activities and play opportunities in indoor, outdoor and in out-of-setting contexts, which enable children to develop and learn.
• Prepare and use a range of resources suitable for children’s ages, interests and abilities, taking account of diversity and promoting equality and inclusion.
• Actively support the development of children’s language and communication skills.
• Promote positive behaviour, self-control and independence through using effective behaviour management strategies and developing children’s social, emotional and behavioural skills.
• Minimum Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education.
• Experience of dealing with challenging behaviours and special needs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach to Early Childhood Education and Care.
• Training/knowledge of High scope, Aistear & Siolta desirable.
• At least 1 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Current First Aid Qualification.
• An up to date manual handling certificate is desirable.
• A child centred approach to working with children.
