The position is for an administrative principal to commence on 4th March 2024.
St. Mary’s is a vertical, co-educational school under the patronage of the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin. There are 16 mainstream class teachers, two EIC class teachers, nine support teachers (six SET & three EAL teachers), six special needs assistants, two bus escorts, two school secretaries, a full-time caretaker and three part-time cleaners.
The appointment to the position is subject, but not limited, to current and continuing registration with the Teaching Council.
Certification to teach Religious Education must be included with the application.
The role and responsibilities of the post are determined by the four domains of leadership and management as set out in Circular 0044/2019
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
• In-depth knowledge of the curriculum.
• Teaching experience across the various classes.
• Commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional
development
• Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead teaching and learning.
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team and team leader.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Droichead.
• Experience in developing, implementing, operating, and evaluating innovative
school-based initiatives.
• A clear understanding of and commitment to the ethos, identity, and
characteristic spirit of the Catholic school
• Previous experience in policy formulation and implementation
• Understanding and knowledge of special education needs, inclusion, and
diversity in education.
The appointment will also be subject to confirmation of qualifications, Garda Vetting requirements (DES Circular 31/2016) and Occupational Health Screening.
