Drumcorrin National School is seeking applications for a 1.00 Full-Time Special Needs Assistant. Drumcorrin National School promotes a caring, inclusive and collaborative school environment with a strong commitment to the school’s ethos.

We are seeking an SNA who is flexible, child-centred and committed to working collaboratively as part of a school team. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic, discretion, flexibility, initiative, reliability and a commitment to supporting the care and inclusion needs of pupils with additional needs.
Experience supporting children in a primary school with a range of additional needs is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of inclusive practice, teamwork, supporting positive behaviour.

Applicants are encouraged to provide specific details of their qualifications, experience and relevant professional development rather than simply listing previous positions. The information provided may be taken into consideration as part of the shortlisting process.

The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, current Garda Vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening, completion of Children First online training and all other relevant Department of Education requirements, including completion of a Statutory Declaration and Form of Undertaking upon offer of employment

An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Candidates who hold a certified copy of Supplementary Assignment Panel Form 1 (PF1), confirming they are due to be made redundant from an SNA post, must submit this certified copy with their application along with a Stamped Self-Addressed Envelope for its return. In accordance with Circular 0044/2026, applicants with a certified PF1 will be considered and interviewed in the first instance; if no such candidate is deemed suitable to meet the needs of the post set out above, other applicants will then be considered at a subsequent interview.
