Castleiney National School invites applications from suitably qualified and registered teachers for the following position:

Status of Post: Full-time Fixed-Term Contract
Nature of Post: Primary Teacher
Number of Vacancies: 1
Commencement Date: Monday, 12 October 2026
Contract End Date: Tuesday, 31 August 2027

This is a full-time fixed-term teaching post for the duration of the 2026/2027 school year. The fixed-term nature of the appointment arises from an approved interschool job-sharing arrangement.

The successful candidate will be appointed in accordance with the terms and conditions of Circular 0044/2019 and relevant Department of Education requirements.

Duties

The successful candidate will initially be assigned teaching duties appropriate to the needs of the school. The successful candidate may be required to teach at any class level and/or undertake other appropriate teaching duties within the school.

Duties may be subject to change in accordance with the needs of the school and the requirements of the Department of Education.

Experience of working in a multi-grade setting, inclusive education and/or special educational needs is desirable.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

Hold a recognised qualification to teach in a primary school in Ireland.
Be fully registered with the Teaching Council under the appropriate registration route.
Meet all relevant Department of Education requirements for appointment to a primary teaching post.
Must hold a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education in a Catholic primary school.

Appointment will be subject to references, current vetting requirements and occupational health screening.

It is a requirement to hold a valid statutory Declaration and to complete the Form of Undertaking for this position upon offer of employment.
