Eolas Breise:
Thomond Primary School is a mainstream primary school with two special classes for autistic learners.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a permanent 0.915 Special Needs Assistant (SNA) position, working 8.30am to 2.00pm daily.

The successful candidate may be assigned to either a mainstream class or a special class for autistic learners. Assignment is at the discretion of the Principal and may change in accordance with the evolving needs of pupils and the school.

We are seeking an SNA who is flexible, child-centred and committed to working collaboratively as part of a school team. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic, initiative, reliability and a commitment to supporting the care and inclusion needs of pupils.

Experience supporting children with a range of additional needs is highly desirable, particularly in areas such as autism, emotional and behavioural needs, ADHD, speech and language needs, sensory and regulation needs, and medical or physical care needs.

Previous experience working in a DEIS school and/or a special class for autistic learners would be an advantage.

Applicants are asked to clearly outline in their application:

* their recognised SNA qualification;
* their relevant SNA experience, including the settings in which they have worked and the needs of the children they have supported;
* any experience in mainstream and/or special class settings;
* any experience working in a DEIS school; and
* relevant CPD, training or additional qualifications undertaken in areas relevant to the SNA role.

Applicants are encouraged to provide specific details of their qualifications, experience and relevant professional development rather than simply listing previous positions. The information provided may be taken into consideration as part of the shortlisting process.

Applicants must hold the relevant qualifications in accordance with Department of Education requirements and meet the terms and conditions applicable to appointment as a Special Needs Assistant.

The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, current Garda Vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening, completion of Children First online training and all other relevant Department of Education requirements, including completion of a Statutory Declaration and Form of Undertaking upon offer of employment.

Please clearly mark the envelope:

and include three copies of your application.
Please include PF1 form if applicable.

Applicants must provide a valid email address as all correspondence regarding interviews will be issued by email. Only candidates shortlisted for interview will be contacted.

Please note that SNA allocations remain subject to review by the Department of Education and may be adjusted in accordance with the school’s allocation.
