An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
The Board of Management of Breaffy NS invites applications for the permanent position of Deputy Principal. This appointment will be made via open competition in accordance with Department of Education regulations.
The Deputy Principal co-operates with the Principal in the leadership and management of the school.
Under Looking at Our Schools 2022: A Quality Framework, the responsibilities span four key leadership domains:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Working closely with the Principal, the Deputy Principal will support whole-school curriculum development, policy formulation and implementation, planning and implementation, staff leadership, strategic planning, and the day-to-day management of the school.
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
• Understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school.
• Experience of leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting.
• A commitment to work with and support the Principal towards a shared vision for the school.
• Strong commitment to inclusive education
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven capacity in successfully leading people and a commitment to collaboration and the promotion of distributed leadership.
• Ability to promote a culture of learning and creativity in the school.
• An ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in policy development, implementation and future planning as per the needs of the school.
• Flexibility to adapt, to cater for the daily changing needs of the school.
• Evidence of and a high level of commitment to ongoing professional development.
Appointment will be subject, but not limited to:
• Satisfactory references
• Current & continuing Teaching Council registration
• Current Garda Vetting requirements
• Occupational Health screening.
