Additional Information:
St Francis National School, under the Patronage of the Bishop of Cashel Emly, is inviting applicants for the position of Deputy Principal. This is a permanent teaching position. The appointment will be made by open competition.

The Deputy Principal will work with the Principal who is also a teaching principal to support and develop effective leadership within the school. The Deputy Principal cooperates with the Principal in the fulfilment of the Principal's role and acts or deputises as the Principal in the Principal's absence.

The appointment will be made under the terms of Circular 0044/2019, is an open competition and the roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains outlined in this circular:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Working closely with the Principal, the Deputy Principal will support whole-school curriculum development, policy formulation and implementation, planning and implementation, staff leadership, strategic planning, and the day-to-day management of the school.
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:


• Understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school.
• Previous multi-grade teaching experience across a range of classes is highly desirable.
• Experience of leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting.
• A commitment to work with and support the Principal towards a shared vision for the school.
• Strong commitment to inclusive education, with proven capacity to lead and support special education and mainstream provision.
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven capacity in successfully leading people and a commitment to collaboration and the promotion of distributed leadership.
• Ability to promote a culture of learning and creativity in the school.
• An ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in policy development, implementation and future planning as per the needs of the school.
• Flexibility to adapt, to cater for the daily changing needs of the school.
• Evidence of and a high level of commitment to ongoing professional development.

Appointment will be subject, but not limited to:
• Satisfactory references
• Current & continuing Teaching Council registration
• Current Garda Vetting requirements
• Occupational Health screening.
