St. Mary's Special School invites applications for two Special Needs Assistant (SNA) positions.

St. Mary's is a special educational setting catering for students with severe to profound and moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, and complex medical needs. The school will have an enrolment of 92 pupils in September 2026.

We are seeking enthusiastic, flexible, and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs. Successful candidates will work closely with class teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in all aspects of school life.

The role involves supporting pupils' educational, social, behavioural, personal care, and medical needs, while promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion in a safe and caring environment.

Essential Requirements
Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or special education setting.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring, and flexible approach to supporting students with complex needs.
Commitment to the wellbeing, safeguarding, and inclusion of all pupils.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Relevant SNA qualification (QQI Level 6 or equivalent).
Experience working with students with autism, intellectual disabilities, or complex medical needs.
Training in areas such as Manual Handling, First Aid, Epilepsy Awareness, PECS, Lámh, or Positive Behaviour Support.
Experience supporting personal care needs.
Knowledge of inclusive educational practices and promoting student independence.
