The bus escort must be available in the mornings and afternoons five days per week to accompany and support a pupil or pupils with Autism in a taxi/bus from their home to and from the school. School starts at 9.20 and finishes at 2pm.
• The bus escort will meet the driver daily at the school.
• The position is approximately 10 hours weekly (1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon.
• The hourly rate of pay is in line with the Department of Education guidelines for school bus escorts.
• Appointment is subject to Garda vetting requirements and verification of references.
• The successful candidate will require good communication skills as they will be working with children and liaising with school staff, the bus driver and parents/guardians.
• Experience of working with children with additional needs is desirable.
Bus escort duties will include:
- Escorting the pupils safely to and from school.
- Assisting the pupils to board and alight from the bus safely and ensuring the pupils are received by responsible adults at the set down points.
- Ensuring the pupils are seated and wearing a safety belt for the journey.
