An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St Joseph’s Ballyadams N.S. is seeking applications for a 1.00 Full Time SNA Post.
1. The school promotes a caring and collaborative school environment. The school values a commitment to the school’s Christian values and Catholic ethos.
The position will involve working closely with Class Teachers and / or Special Class Teachers & Special Education Team to support pupils with additional care needs.
The successful candidate may be required to support more than one pupil during the school day, and is required to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
The successful candidate is required to be able to work effectively as part of a team. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic, initiative, flexibility, very good communication skills and show a willingness to engage in ongoing relevant professional development.
2. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work across the school, including in mainstream classes and / or autism classes, depending on the needs of the school and pupils. Deployment may be changed at any stage at the discretion of the principal.
3. A QQI Level 6 Special Needs Assistant Qualification is desirable and the successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to undertaking further relevant professional development and training. Additional qualifications in special needs assisting, childcare or education, particularly in relation to autism, are highly desirable.
4. The SNA will be required to support pupils with a range of needs including sensory, emotional, behavioural and care needs. Relevant additional training, such as First Aid, Manual Handling, positive behaviour support or trauma-informed practice is desirable. Experience in a Special School or special class experience is desirable. Experience of supporting children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, communication needs, emotional regulation needs and behaviours of concern is desirable.
5. Posts are allocated by the NCSE and subject to review.
6. Appointments will be subject to, but not limited to, satisfactory references, current Garda Vetting requirements, Occupational Health screening requirements and completion of Children First online training.
7. Applicants who are deemed to be currently on the SNA Supplementary Panel should furnish a copy of the panel form (PF1) with their application. Please ensure your referees are relevant and contactable.
8.Shortlisting will apply. Only candidates called to interview will be contacted. Interviews will be held the week of the 14th September after school hours.
