Eolas Breise:
St George’s N.S., Balbriggan, invites applications for a permanent teaching position, with initial duties in one of our autism classes.

The class will cater for six junior pupils, ranging from Junior Infants to Second Class, and the successful teacher will be supported by two full-time SNAs. This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, enthusiastic and committed teacher to lead a small class team and make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young children.
We are seeking a teacher who is patient, compassionate, creative and highly child-centred, and who has a deep belief in every child’s capacity to learn, communicate, develop and flourish. The successful candidate should be committed to creating a calm, structured, nurturing and engaging learning environment in which each pupil feels safe, understood, valued and included.
While experience of working in an autism class, special school or other special-education setting would be highly desirable, applications are also welcome from newly qualified teachers and teachers who are recently qualified and who demonstrate a strong interest in special education and inclusive practice. Experience or knowledge in areas such as supporting communication and language development, working with pupils with additional needs, or implementing inclusive and differentiated teaching approaches would also be considered an advantage.
The ability to work collaboratively is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and work closely with the class SNAs, colleagues, parents and relevant outside professionals to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to meeting the needs of each child.
We would particularly welcome applications from teachers who are reflective, flexible and solution-focused; who communicate warmly and professionally; and who are committed to ongoing professional development in autism and special education.

St George’s N.S. is a welcoming, inclusive and multicultural Church of Ireland school. We are committed to developing our autism classes as an integral part of the wider school community and to ensuring that every pupil experiences belonging, dignity, achievement and joy in learning.
While the initial duties attached to this permanent position will be in an autism class, all teaching appointments are to the school, and duties may change in future years according to the needs of the school.
