Eolas Breise:
This position is a 0.5 post, comprising 16 hours per week.
The successful applicants will be required to attend the school five days per week. Daily start and finish times will be agreed locally.
Applicants should include a completed PF1 form with their application, where applicable.
The successful applicants will work under the guidance and direction of the school principal and relevant class teacher.
Applicants for the positions must demonstrate:
An excellent understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Special Needs Assistant, as outlined in Department of Education and Youth Circular 0032/2026, The Role of Special Needs Assistants in Recognised Primary, Post-Primary and Special Schools.
An excellent understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant in supporting the identified core care needs, participation, inclusion and developing independence of pupils with special educational needs.
Relevant experience of working with pupils with a range of special educational needs, particularly autistic pupils.
An understanding of the importance of flexibility, collaboration and teamwork across different educational settings within the school, including autism classes and mainstream classes.
An ongoing commitment to engaging in relevant continuing professional development.
