Additional Information:
The Board of Management invites applications for a Special Class Teacher in our Autism Class. This is a maternity leave position which will commence on 1st September 2026.
Our school offers a unique opportunity to join a dedicated, supportive and highly skilled team of teachers and Special Needs Assistants. Staff work collaboratively to deliver educational opportunities for all children.
We are seeking teachers who are:
- Passionate about working with autistic children in an Autism Class setting .
- Highly motivated, proactive and able to demonstrate initiative in their professional practice.
- Committed to engaging in ongoing professional learning and willing to independently pursue opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills and can provide evidence of relevant learning
- Collaborative team players who contribute positively to a dedicated and supportive school community.
- Reflective practitioners who value evidence-based and neuro-affirmative approaches to education
Desirable Experience and Skills:
- Teaching qualifications in Special Education recognised by the Department of Education,
- Experience working with children with additional educational needs in a
Special Educational setting / Autism Class.
- Experience supporting children who present with behaviours of concern using positive, proactive and evidence-informed approaches.
- Knowledge and experience of TEACCH, LÁMH, PECS and/or ABA approaches and MAPA training.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
