The Board of Management invites applications for the following Special Needs Assistant (SNA) positions commencing on 1st September 2026:
• 1 Full-Time Special Needs Assistant (SNA)
• 1 Infant Day Special Needs Assistant (Autism Class)
Please specify clearly in your application whether you are applying for the Full-Time SNA position, the Infant Day SNA position, or both.
The successful candidate(s) will:
• Carry out duties in accordance with Department of Education
Circulars 0030/2014 and 0032/2026, and any subsequent amendments.
• Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated, supportive and child-centred team.
• Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, initiative & commitment to
an inclusive practice.
• Be reflective practitioners who actively engage in continuing
professional development (CPD) & can provide evidence of relevant learning.
• Be willing to undertake further training and upskilling to meet the
evolving needs of the children.
• Be committed to promoting the wellbeing, learning and development of pupils.
• Support the care needs of pupils in our inclusive school community and
assist them in accessing all aspects of school life, including supporting a
child with diabetes. The role may include supporting pupils with personal care,
communication, social development, wellbeing and participation in learning
activities under the direction of the Principal and teaching staff.
The successful candidate(s) may be assigned to any SNA role within the school, including Mainstream Classes and our Autism Classes, at the discretion of the Principal.
SNA positions are subject to NCSE allocation and SENO review.
Appointment is subject to current Garda Vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening and satisfactory references.
Applicants who hold a valid PF1 form should include a copy with their application.
Applications will be accepted by post only and must be received no later than 12.00 noon on the closing date.
The following knowledge, training and experience would be advantageous:
• Experience supporting autistic children and as well as children with
additional educational needs .
• Knowledge and experience of TEACCH, LÁMH, PECS and/or
ABA approaches and MAPA training.
• Experience supporting children who present with behaviours of concern
using positive, proactive and evidence-informed approaches.
An internal panel of suitably qualified applicants may be established to fill SNA vacancies that may arise during the school year following the approval of the Board of Management
