Additional Information:
Thomond Primary School is a DEIS+ mainstream primary school with two special classes for autistic learners. We are a welcoming, inclusive and child-centred school community, committed to high expectations and to providing high-quality teaching and learning experiences that enable every pupil to reach their full potential.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a number of fixed-term teaching positions for the 2026/2027 school year. These interviews will also be used to fill two maternity leave positions.

Successful candidates may be assigned to either a mainstream class teaching position or a special education teaching position, however duties may be subject to change.

Placement will be determined by the Principal in accordance with the needs and priorities of the school and may be subject to change throughout the school year.

Highly desirable requirements include:
• Knowledge and experience of teaching pupils with a diverse range of educational needs, including additional and complex needs, and a commitment to inclusive education.
• Experience of teaching in a DEIS+ school setting and an understanding of the importance of promoting equality of opportunity, high expectations, positive educational outcomes and the holistic development of all pupils.
• Experience of, and/or a willingness to develop expertise in, supporting autistic learners and pupils with additional and complex needs through evidence-informed and child-centred approaches.
• A strong understanding of effective teaching and learning practices, including literacy, numeracy, wellbeing, attendance and pupil engagement initiatives.
• An ability and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated school team, including colleagues, SNAs, parents/guardians and external professionals.
• A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school through involvement in extra-curricular activities, including music, the arts, sport, coaching or other areas of interest.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, reflective, diligent and innovative teachers who are committed to continuous professional development and to making a positive contribution to the life of our school community.

An internal panel of suitable applicants may be established to fill vacancies which may arise within a period of four months from the date on which the Board of Management approves the successful candidates.

Please mark ‘TEACHER APPLICATION’ on the envelope and include three copies of your application. Applicants must also include a copy of their recognised Certificate to Teach Religious Education with their application.

Applicants must provide a valid email address, as all correspondence regarding interviews will be conducted by email.
Please note that only applicants who are shortlisted for interview will receive correspondence.

Appointments will be subject to, but not limited to, satisfactory references, current Garda Vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening, and current and continuing Teaching Council registration. Candidates must hold a recognised certificate to teach Religious Education.
