An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Applications are invited for the following fixed-term teaching positions:
1. Special Education Teaching Position (Fixed-Term)
This position is to cover a job-share arrangement that has been organised internally for the 2026/2027 school year. The post is for a Special Education Teacher; however, duties may be subject to change at the discretion of the Principal.
2. Principal Release Cluster Position (Fixed-Term)
This position involves providing cover for Principal Release Administrative Days across the following five schools:
- Scartaglen National School (Base School)
- Ballydesmond National School
- Scoil Mhuire, Kiskeam
- Kilmurry National School, Cordal
- Scoil Mhuire agus Naomh Treasa, Currow
A single interview process will be conducted for both positions. Candidates may indicate their preferred position on their application; however, the Board of Management reserves the right to offer either position to the successful candidate(s).
Scartaglen N.S. is a Catholic school. The successful candidate must hold the appropriate Certificate to teach Catholic Religious Education.
The following experience and qualifications are desirable:
• Completion of Induction/Droichead
• Experience in Special Education Teaching
Non-compliance with terms of the advertisement will automatically disqualify candidates.
Your application must also be accompanied by the contact details of a minimum of 3 professional references. Candidates called to interview will be required to provide proof of qualifications and Teaching Council registration.
Appointment will be subject to Teaching Council Registration, current Garda Vetting requirements and Occupational Health Screening.
