The Board of Management of Saplings Special School invites applications for two 0.5 fixed-term Special Class Teacher positions commencing in the 2026/2027 school year.

One position is to cover the second half of an existing job-share arrangement, while the second position is to fill a 0.5 Exceptional Teaching Position.

Saplings Special School is an evidence-based special school for pupils aged 4–18 years with Autism and Complex Needs. We currently support 30 students across five classrooms and are committed to providing highly individualised, evidence-based educational programmes and assessment practices that enable every student to reach their full potential.

Working at Saplings Special School offers a unique opportunity to join a dedicated and highly skilled team of teachers and Special Needs Assistants. Staff work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals to design and deliver individualised educational programmes that support students’ communication, learning, independence and wellbeing.

We are seeking teachers who are:

- Highly motivated, proactive and able to demonstrate initiative in their professional practice.
- Committed to engaging in ongoing professional learning and willing to independently pursue opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Essential Requirements:
- Teaching qualifications recognised by the Department of Education.
- Experience working with autistic children and young people in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting students who may present with behaviours of concern within a special school environment.

Desirable Experience and Skills:
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Total Communication approaches.
- Neuroaffirmative practice.
- LÁMH.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
