An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
The Special Needs Assistant will support the care needs of pupils in our inclusive school community and assist them in accessing all aspects of school life. The role may involve supporting pupils with personal care, communication, social development, wellbeing and participation in learning activities under the direction of the Principal, Deputy Principal and teaching staff. Candidates must be willing to work in mainstream and special class settings.
Ideally, candidates will have the following:
• Experience of working with pupils with autism and complex needs
• Knowledge and understanding of dealing with behaviours of concern
• Familiarity with approaches and guidance specific to pupils with additional needs e.g. Relate, Autism Good Practice Guidelines, etc.
• Willingness to work as part of team
• A positive outlook and a caring and flexible nature
• Willingness to upskill frequently in order to best meet the needs of the pupils in their care
Appointments are subject to successful completion of Garda Vetting, Occupational Health Screening and Child Safeguarding Training.
*Interviews are scheduled for afternoon of Monday 6th July*
