Tankerstown National School is a vibrant centre of education with a dedicated and collaborative staff, located at the foot of the Galtee Mountains, just off the N24.
The Principal will lead staff and will work closely with the Board of Management, parents and the wider school community to ensure the continued development and success of the school.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
An understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic Primary School.
An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience.
Strong Leadership skills and proven ability to work as part of a team and experience of managing people.
A commitment to work in partnership with the Deputy Principal in furthering the aims of the school.
Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives.
A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant Professional Development.
Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead and administer a school.
Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
An in-depth knowledge and experience of SEN.
The ability to foster the involvement of parents within the school community.
A minimum of five years of recognised teaching service.
Envelopes should be clearly marked 'Principal Teacher Application'.
Applications must be received no later than 12pm on the Closing Date.
A minimum of 3 eligible applications is required for this competition to proceed.
The roles and responsibilities of the post relate to the four domains of leadership and
management as outlined in DES Circular 0044/2019:

It is a requirement to hold a valid Statutory Declaration and to complete the Form of Undertaking for this position.
