Holy Child Killiney invites applications for the position of School Chaplain. This is a full-time privately funded position, subject to a six-month probationary period. Salary will be in line with the Department of Education and Youth teachers' pay scale.

The successful candidate will play a central role in supporting the spiritual, pastoral and faith life of the school community. The Chaplain will work collaboratively with school leadership, staff, students and parents to foster a caring, inclusive and faith-centred environment grounded in the School's ethos.

The role will include:
Leadership in the faith formation of students across all year groups
Preparation and coordination of liturgical celebrations throughout the school year
Organising school masses, prayer services, retreats and sacramental preparation
Supporting students in their spiritual, emotional and pastoral development
Providing a compassionate and visible pastoral presence within the school community
Supporting students during times of bereavement, difficulty or crisis
Collaborating with senior leadership, Year Heads, Guidance Counsellors and student support teams
Assisting in the development of initiatives promoting wellbeing, inclusion and student voice
Supporting and accompanying students in their leadership and charitable initiatives
Building positive relationships with parents, staff, local clergy and the wider community
Contributing to the promotion and development of the school’s Catholic ethos and values
Teaching up to a maximum of eight hours per week of non-examination Religious Education classes
Maintaining appropriate records and contributing to relevant school policies and safeguarding procedures

Applicants should demonstrate:
A recognised qualification suitable for school chaplaincy or pastoral ministry
A recognised teaching qualification, registered with the Teaching Council, or eligibility for registration
Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting
Strong liturgical and organisational experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
An ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team
A commitment to nurturing the faith development and wellbeing of young people
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities within a school setting.

The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and support the characteristic spirit and ethos of the School.

Holy Child Killiney is a fee-charging Catholic Voluntary Secondary School for girls, founded in 1947, with an enrolment of approximately four hundred students. The promotion of academic excellence and the holistic development of students including sporting achievement and musical ability is at the core of education here.

Any appointment will be subject to registration with The Teaching Council, Garda vetting, and completion of a statutory declaration and form of undertaking in compliance with the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016.
