The Board of Management of Dominican Primary School (Roll No. 05600C) under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin invites applications for the position of Deputy Principal. This is a leadership role offering an opportunity to work with the Principal and leadership team to support the effective management, development and wellbeing of a diverse and inclusive school.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity
The successful candidate will be a leader who demonstrates:
• A strong commitment to inclusive education with a capacity to lead and support special education, special classes, EAL provision and mainstream provision.
• A commitment to leading and promoting positive behaviour strategies, development of pupil voice and a culture of learning and creativity.
• A vision to lead quality teaching and learning in a DEIS Band 2 context.
• Excellent people management skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents/guardians, all staff, outside agencies and the wider learning community.
• Proven leadership skills including experience of policy/plan development, implementation and evaluation of school-based initiatives.
• Strong organisational capabilities, with experience in prioritising, planning and managing workload effectively.
• Experience working with teams, with delegation skills and a commitment to developing leadership capacity in others.
• An understanding of, and a commitment to upholding the Catholic Ethos of the Dominican Primary School and the values of Dominican education.
• A commitment to, and evidence of continuing professional development relevant to a senior leadership role.
• A willingness to work in partnership with the Principal in the fulfilment of the Principal’s role and acts or deputises as the Principal in the Principal’s absence.
