Malahide Portmarnock Education Together Secondary School (MPETSS) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Guidance Counsellor, commencing Academic year 2026.
Malahide Portmarnock ETSS is a co-educational, multi-denominational, equality-based post-primary school under the patronage of Education Together. The school has gone through a period of rapid growth and development since it opened in 2018. We are currently recruiting teachers of all levels of experience who are committed to creating an inclusive school community where students are supported to reach their full potential and become active members of society.
The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive guidance and counselling service in line with Department of Education guidelines and the school’s ethos. The role forms a key part of the school’s whole-school guidance provision.
Duties will include:
Personal, social, educational, career guidance, individual and group counselling.
Career guidance and planning, including CAO and post-school pathways
Collaboration with school leadership, Guidance Department, SEN, Student Support Team, Wellbeing Teams, and external agencies
Contribution to whole-school wellbeing initiatives
Experience of working within:
A whole-school guidance or wellbeing model
Inclusive and diverse school communities
Junior Cycle Wellbeing and Senior Cycle Guidance
would be an advantage.
Applicants must:
Be qualified in Guidance Counselling, meeting Department of Education requirements
Be fully registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Education Together ethos
Have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
