SCOIL CHONNLA PHADRAIG, also known as Patrician Primary is under the Patronage of the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin led by Bishop Dennis Nulty.
Patrician Primary School is a co-educational school in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
The school caters for classes ranging from 2nd to 6th, with a current enrolment of approximately 310 pupils in 13 mainstream classes. Since 1914, Patrician Primary School boasts a proud tradition of education in the town, while we also provide a wide array of extra-curricular activities including Gaelic football, camogie, hurling, soccer, athletics and choir.
The school is committed to inclusive education and to fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for all students. We welcome students from more than twenty different countries, and from many different faiths. Our active Student Council ensures that the students' voices are fully heard throughout our school.
Patrician Primary School seeks applications for the post of Principal Teacher.
Applicants must hold a certificate to teach religion and demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of Patrician Primary School.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Looking at our Schools 2022: A quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools.
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organization
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
1. A clear understanding of, and commitment to, the ethos and characteristic spirit of a Catholic primary school.
2. Proven leadership capacity appropriate to the role of principal, in line with the leadership and management framework as above.
3. Evidence of effective leadership of teaching and learning, with a commitment to inclusion and pupil well-being, including understanding and knowledge of special education needs and EAL (English as an Additional Language).
4. Demonstrated ability in leading school development, including curriculum improvement and school self‑evaluation.
5. Strong skills in managing the organization, including policy development, planning, prioritization, and the effective use of resources.
6. Capacity for developing leadership capabilities in others and fostering a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
8. Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to school leadership.
