Secondary Science Teacher & Academic Development and Examinations Lead (full time)
Description:
Open World International School is a bilingual French–English school located north of Paris. Our setting offers the best of both worlds: easy access to the capital alongside the quality of life of a green, peaceful environment on the edge of the Compiègne forest. We welcome around 200 students from Nursery to Year 10. Our curriculum blends the strengths of the British and French systems, with approximately 50% of teaching delivered in English. Established and steadily developing, the school benefits from a strong sense of community, a stable team and a supportive environment for both students and staff.
We are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking teacher who is keen to contribute to the life and continued development of the school beyond the classroom.
The Role
SECONDARY SCIENCE TEACHER (Years 7–10) – This is a 0.5 position (approximately 12 hours per week).
• Teaching Physics, Chemistry and Biology across Key Stage 3 and IGCSE level.
• Willing to contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and school events
ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT & EXAMINATIONS LEAD – 0.5 position
This part of the role includes:
• Oversight of Pearson Edexcel examination entries and procedures
• Ensuring compliance with examination regulations (Pearson, Cambridge language)
• Supporting accreditation and inspection preparation
• Contributing to curriculum mapping and academic programme development
• Supporting the structured personal development pathway across the secondary cycle
• The postholder will work closely with the Head of Secondary and report directly to the School Director.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
For the Secondary Science Teacher role (Part-Time)
• Fully qualified secondary school teacher (PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent), with a minimum of five years of relevant experience
• Proven experience teaching Science at secondary level (IGCSE essential; A-Level desirable)
• Strong subject knowledge across Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Key Stage 3 and IGCSE
• Strong classroom management and the ability to engage mixed-ability learners
• Secure understanding of the British curriculum and assessment framework
• Confident working in a bilingual and multicultural environment
Additional Profile for the Academic Development and Examinations Lead (to make a Full-Time)
• Highly organised with the ability to manage procedures, deadlines and regulatory requirements
• Confident handling examination administration (Pearson Edexcel / Cambridge Language) and compliance processes
• Interested in curriculum development and whole-school academic processes
• Motivated to contribute to the development of student personal growth programmes
• Proactive, adaptable and comfortable taking initiative within a growing school environment
• Teachers are expected to contribute to the smooth running of the school, which may occasionally include providing subject-related cover when necessary
• Willing to progressively assume broader responsibilities as the school develops
