Clarecastle National School is a vibrant and inclusive Catholic primary school with an enrolment of approximately 360 pupils and 22 dedicated teaching staff. The school is committed to fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for all students.
Clarecastle National School has an existing Special Class for Pupils with Autism. Clarecastle National School is excited about the upcoming construction of a new Special Class for Pupils with Autism Extension that will consist of two special classrooms, a central activity area and ancillary rooms which will serve as a vital resource for the school and the wider community.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the construction process and setup to ensure it provides exceptional support to students and families.
Applicants must hold a certificate to teach religion and demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of CCNS.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Looking at our Schools 2022: A quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools.
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
1. A strong understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
2. Proven leadership skills and experience in managing teams and school initiatives.
3. Knowledge and experience in special education needs, inclusion, and diversity in education.
4. Experience in developing and implementing innovative school-based projects, particularly in the area of special education.
5. A commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive school environment.
6. Evidence of continuing professional development, particularly in the area of school leadership.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Experience in policy development and implementation.
9. Capacity to successfully lead and administer a school, including the ability to prioritise, plan, and organise workloads effectively.
