The Board of Management of Howth Road Mixed National School invites applications for the permanent position of Principal. This is an open competition for people from all backgrounds who meet the criteria below.
Howth Road Mixed National School is a primary school for children from Junior Infants to 6th Class under patronage of the Kirk Session of Clontarf & Scots Presbyterian Church, the local church. This is a teaching principal post. There are three other mainstream teachers, two special-education teachers, three special-needs assistants, a part-time school secretary and a part-time music teacher.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity.
Applicants should demonstrate:
• A commitment to supporting the Presbyterian ethos of the school
• A commitment to understanding and supporting the small school’s ethos.
The appointment will be subject but not limited to:
• Satisfactory references
• Full registration with the Teaching Council with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience
• Current screening requirements and Occupational Health Screening
• Documentary evidence of qualifications and teaching experience
• Documentary evidence of Teaching Council Certificate of Registration.
