An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
This is a part time SNA position (0.83 post, infant day).
The successful candidate will be involved in supporting children in our mainstream classes. Duties of the post are as outlined in the Department of Education Skills 0030/2014 and other relevant circulars. The post is subject to continued NCSE allocation and SENO review.
Applicants must demonstrate the specific competencies and requirements to meet the special educational and care needs of children. Candidates are required to have minimum qualifications as set out by the DES Circular 0051/2019, though having Fetac Level 5/6 in SEN or other relevant qualifications in areas such as First Aid certification, ICT is desirable.
Candidates must be able to work well as part of a team, be flexible, display a strong work ethic, demonstrate a willingness to avail of further training, respect the ethos of the school and be willing to work under the direction of the class teachers, SET Co-Ordinator and school Principal. The ability to support children with challenging behaviour is essential. We are looking for someone who is energetic, enthusiastic and responsive to the needs of the children and the school.
Applicants should have experience and relevant qualifications in working with children with ASD, ADHD, Down syndrome and children with behavioural needs.
Desirable skills include
• willingness to undertake courses which relate to the needs of the children and the school
• suitability to the school and the needs of the pupils in the school
• experience of working with children using Lámh
• experience of working with children with visual and hearing impairment
• experience of working with pupils with autism and other special educational needs
The appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening, relevant qualifications and completion of the online Túsla Children First E-Learning Programme
