An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Ballymacarbry NS is a Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore.

The Board of Management invites applications for the position of Special Needs Assistant (SNA) on a permanent basis (0.33 WTE).
The successful candidate will be required to uphold the characteristic spirit (ethos) of our school.

Details of the Post.
• Position: Special Needs Assistant (SNA)
• Nature of Post: Permanent (0.33 WTE)
• Hours: Approx. 10 hours 40 minutes p.wk.
• Duration: Subject to continued Department of Education sanction
• Start Date: 23rd February 2026

This post is sanctioned by the Department of Education and is allocated to meet the care needs of pupils enrolled in the school.

Duties.
Duties are those appropriate to the role of an SNA as outlined in Department of Education Circular 0030/2014 (and any subsequent circulars) and as determined by the Principal and Board of Management.

As currently envisaged, the successful applicant will be required each work-day morning. This may vary as the needs of the school change.

• Appointment is subject to Department of Education sanction
• Garda Vetting is required prior to commencement
