The Board of Management of Lakyle National School, Whitegate, invites applications for the position of Principal. Lakyle NS is a 3 teacher co-educational school under the patronage of the Bishop of Killaloe.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
• Continuing and relevant professional development especially in the area of school leadership.
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion and diversity in education
• Excellent people management and communication skills
• Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead and administer a school
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and to foster leadership in others
• A clear understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Previous experience in policy development.

The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the following four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 44/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
To be eligible for consideration, candidates:
• must be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 – Primary
• have a certificate to teach RE
A minimum of 3 valid applications are required for the competition to proceed.
Appointment is subject to current Teaching Council Registration, satisfactory references, Garda Vetting and Occupational Health Screening approval.
