Whitegate National School is a co-educational Catholic primary school, with a teaching Principal and three other mainstream class teachers, 2 Special Education Teachers, 1 part time EAL Teacher, 2 full time SNAs and 1 part time SNA

The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:

1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity

Applicants for this position should demonstrate:
• An understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of Whitegate N.S. and an ability to support and promote school and parish links.
• Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with staff members, Board of Management, parents and guardians and the wider school community.
• An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school.
• A commitment to shared leadership and a willingness to delegate and develop leadership capacity and empower others.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience within a primary school.
• Understanding and knowledge of the requirements associated with the provision of Special Education Needs, inclusion and diversity.

The appointment will be subject but not limited to:
• Satisfactory references
• Full registration with the Teaching Council with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
• Current vetting requirements and Occupational Health Screening.
• Documentary evidence of qualifications.
