Lakeview School is a school which caters for children age 5 to 18 with Mild General Learning Needs and Complex Needs. It is essential that the candidate will have experience and the necessary skills to work with pupils who have additional needs.

We are seeking 1 bus escort, and would like to have a panel of substitutes available.

Route
Pick up of students starting in the Moycullen area at approximately 07:00 and accompany them to Lakeview School, Renmore, Galway for 08:50. Escort students from school to their homes from 14:30.
Approximately 18 hours per week-TBC.

The bus escort will accompany and support students in a mini bus from their home to and from school. The bus escort must be available in the mornings and afternoons, five days per week for the school year. The bus escort duties will include:
Escorting the students safely to and from school
Liaising with school staff, bus driver and parents/guardians when necessary
Assisting the students to board and alight from transport safely and ensure that
the student is received by the responsible adult at each set down point
Ensuring the student is seated and wearing a safety belt for the duration of the
journey

The successful candidate will require good communication skills and have some experience of caring for/working with children with additional needs. Experience working with children with intellectual disability is desirable.

The bus escort should be available daily, in the morning and afternoon. The children will be arriving at school for or before 08:50 and will be going home at 14:30. The bus escort will be required to meet the bus driver each morning and afternoon at an agreed location in the above route area. The hourly rate of pay is in line with the DES guidelines for school bus escorts - €15.50 per hour.
