An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
The Board of Management of Holy Family S.N.S invites applications for the position of Permanent School Caretaker (35 hour week).
The successful applicant must be able to work the hours during times agreed by the Principal/Board of Management which includes alternating ‘earlies’ and ‘lates’ with the caretaker of the Junior school next door. They must be able to take up the position as soon as possible.
Ideally, applicants will:
Have general maintenance skills
Have an understanding of caretaking duties
Be willing to work cooperatively with school staff and management.
Duties will include:
inspections of premises
general school repairs
maintenance of buildings (internal and external)
development and maintenance of school grounds and green areas
maintenance of furniture and fittings
liaising with external contractors where relevant
opening/closing of school (including Holy Family J.N.S. in collaboration with the caretaker of the Junior School)
painting
keyholder and alarm duties
management of disposal of waste
There is an initial probationary period of 6 months.
The successful candidate should: (either have completed or agree to undertake this training on appointment)
• A Child Protection Course
• A Manual Handling Certificate (in date)
• An First Aid Certificate (in date)
• A Safe Pass (in date)
And any other relevant training.
Satisfactory Garda Vetting is necessary before appointment - it may be possible to bring starting date forward depending on length of time it takes for garda vetting to be completed.
The successful candidate must also uphold the ethos of the school.
