Scoil Aonghusa is a co-educational special school under the Department of Education and Skills and the patronage of the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly.
Scoil Aonghusa caters for the needs of pupils aged 3-18 years with a diagnosis of;
Moderate General Learning Disabilities, Severe to Profound GLD and students with a confirmed diagnosis Autism with a moderate or severe/profound GLD.
Scoil Aonghusa has the provision of one Early Intervention class for young children aged 3-5 years. Pupils attending this class must have a confirmed diagnosis of Autism.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants should be fully qualified and currently registered with the Teaching Council.
Experience teaching in a special school setting for pupil with moderate GLD, Severe/Profound GLD and Autism.
Desirable Criteria:
Knowledge of the curriculum and approaches used within special school settings
Experience devising IEPs
Experience / training in augmentative and alternative forms of communication
Experience managing and working as part of a classroom team
Experience working with and managing challenging behaviour
Ability to adjust and adapt to situations as they occur
Applicants are asked to ensure they fulfil all essential criteria and have included all required documentation with application. Incomplete applications will not be considered under any circumstances.
