St. Mary’s Special School In Johnstown, Navan (under the Patronage of the Bishop of Meath Dr. Tom Deenihan), Roll Number: 19560T is inviting applications for the position of Special Class Teacher.

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria:
The candidate must be fully registered under Route 1 ( Primary), Route 4 (Other) or Route 2 (Post Primary) with the teaching council .
St. Mary’s Special school caters for pupils from 5 to 18yrs under the following categories:
• Moderate GLD – Primary and Post –Primary
• Severe & Profound GLD –non-medical complex needs – Primary and Post Primary
• ASD- Primary and Post Primary
• Severe & Profound GLD with complex medical needs – Primary and Post Primary

The following skills, knowledge, experience and competencies are desirable:
Applicants should have experience of working with students with physical, sensory, learning and complex difficulties. Experience in working with children with ASD is desirable for these posts. Candidates must be able to work well as part of a team, be flexible, display strong work ethic and demonstrate a willingness to avail of further training. A knowledge of and a commitment to the Catholic ethos of our school.
Appointment will be subject to current Garda vetting requirements, occupational health screening and satisfactory references.
All appointments are subject to sanction from the Department of Education. Teaching allocation may be varied from time to time by the National Council for Special Education.
