About the Role:
The Deputy Principal plays a vital role in the senior leadership team, working in partnership with the Principal to ensure effective leadership and management across the school. The role encompasses the four domains of leadership and management, as outlined in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity
The Deputy Principal will deputise for the Principal when required and will share responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the school.
Essential Requirements:
1. Registration with the Teaching Council (Route 1 – Primary)
2. Full Garda Vetting clearance
3. Satisfactory references and Occupational Health Screening
The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate:
- A clear commitment to the Catholic ethos, vision, and values of the school.
- Strong curriculum knowledge and broad classroom teaching experience.
- Proven leadership, management, and administrative skills.
- Experience in leading whole-school initiatives and policy development.
-Commitment to School Self-Evaluation (SSE) and the DEIS plan.
- Knowledge of inclusion, diversity, EAL, and additional educational needs (SENCO experience desirable).
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Excellent communication and people management skills.
- A commitment to shared leadership and willingness to delegate and develop leadership capacity and empower others.
- Ability to foster collaboration with staff, parents, Board of Management, external agencies, and the wider community.
- The ability to organise school events and to engage Parental Involvement in school life.
- The experience and ability to work with external agencies and community groups.
- Skills in planning, timetabling, supervision, and IT systems for smooth day-to-day operations. (IT leadership experience desirable)
- Capacity to promote a culture of learning, creativity, and extracurricular engagement
- Willingness to act as DDLP in relation to safeguarding.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership and Management and experience in a DEIS setting are highly desirable.
