An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

The Board of Management of Saplings Special School are inviting applicants for the position of
Special Class Teacher on a specified purpose contract to cover maternity leave.
Saplings Special School is an evidence-based school for pupils with Autism and Complex Needs
from the ages of 4-18 years. We have 5 classrooms catering for a total of 30 students. We value
individualised, evidence based education and assessment. A post in Saplings Carlow is a unique
opportunity for the successful candidate to work as part of a dedicated team of highly qualified
and motivated teachers and SNA's. Staff interact with professionals from cross-disciplinary teams
delivering individualised evidence-based educational programmes.
Applicants should have experience working with autistic individuals, as well as experience of
working with students with behaviours of concern within a special school setting.
Duties, qualifications and salary as outlined by the Dept of Education.
Experience working with children with autism in an educational setting is essential. Background
or experience in positive behaviour support, TEACCH, PECS, LAMH is an advantage.
