An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Glengoole N.S. are seeking a committed individual to take on the role of Deputy Principal in our small, rural primary school. This is a leadership and teaching role. The successful candidate will support the Principal in managing the school, while also teaching in a multi-grade classroom.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
Understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a
Catholic school.
Proven leadership skills, including policy development and
implementation.
Previous teaching experience across a range of classes.
Experience of teaching in a DEIS school and knowledge of
DEIS programmes and initiatives
Proven ability to work as a member of a team, to manage and work collaboratively with all staff members .
Experience in the development, implementation, operation
and evaluation of school-based initiatives, with a strong commitment to supporting the Principal in leading teaching and learning.
Ability to promote a culture of learning and creativity in the
school.
Ability to work collaboratively with the wider school
community.
Willingness to undertake Continuous Professional
Development.
Ability to partake in mentoring programmes and initiatives.
Appointment will be subject, but not limited to:
Satisfactory references
Current & continuing Teaching Council registration
Current Garda Vetting requirements
Occupational Health screening.
A minimum of 3 eligible applications are required for this competition to proceed.
