An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

This advertisement is for 1 permanent teaching post and one fixed term teaching post.
Under the Patronage of the Brothers of Charity, St. Mary’s Special School is a co-educational school that caters for pupils, ages 4 - 18 years, who, on psychological testing, are found to be functioning within the level of Mild General Learning Disability. Many of our pupils have multiple disabilities.
We have also expanded to include four classes for students with ASD and Mild/Moderate General Learning Disabilities and a specific class for children with Autism and Mild General Learning Disability.
Teachers should be prepared to work in any class in the school.
Essential skills/experience: previously worked in a special school/class setting with children with an intellectual disability and/or Autism, evidence of interest in working in special education through completed CPD, awareness of MAPA/Dynamis/dealing with behaviours of concern
Desirable: flexibility, good team player, able to establish excellent relationships with families and Multi-Disciplinary Teams, willingness to bring more to the school and share your own talents and interest with staff and students, experience/knowledge of Junior Cycle L1/L2/Mild Guidelines for Primary Curriculum, familiarity with Total Communication methods.
