The Board of Management of Gorthaganny N.S., Co. Roscommon invite applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Principal teacher to take effect from 1st September 2025.
Gorthaganny N.S. is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Elphin.
Gorthaganny N.S. is a co-educational, vertical, mainstream school, with three class teachers, two support teachers, one EAL teacher (Fixed-term), one full time SNA and one part -time SNA. We also have a part-time secretary and a cleaner.

Applications are invited from fully registered teachers (under Route 1 Primary) with the Teaching Council.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- An understanding and commitment to the values, vision and Catholic ethos of Gorthaganny NS and an ability to support and promote school/ community links.
- An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum, a range of teaching experience and a high level of understanding of SEN, EAL inclusion and differentiation.
- An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting.
-Involvement in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of school based initiatives.
- Experience in planning and policy development.
-The successful candidate will have excellent management and communication skills.
-The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the 4 domains of leadership and management, as specified in Circular 0044/2019.
1. Leading Teaching & Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.

The appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening.
