Role is for Special Education Teacher. The role of this teacher is to identify and meet the learning and teaching needs of students with special educational needs in our Cu Chulainn Class.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with students who is patient and caring to work with children within the ASD Base of Ballymakenny College.

The ideal candidate will have experience working from behavioural plans and support plans.

Teaching experience in an ASD class setting and knowledge of ASD specific strategies and supports such as TEACCH, PECS, Lámh, ABA, MAPA would be an advantage. Experience with challenging behaviour, care needs and the ability to work as part of a team is a necessity in order to facilitate successful integration.
A strong knowledge of the Continuum of Support process as well as a passion for highly differentiated teaching is a requirement.

Previous experience of supporting secondary aged students with SEN needs is essential. You must have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must be committed and reliable with excellent communication skills along with a calm, patient, and empathetic nature.
An element of this role may require candidate to either support students in mainstream or teach in mainstream setting.

Special Education Needs qualification desirable.
