The Board of Management of Dominican College, Galway, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic PE teacher to join our team.
Our school prides itself on fostering a positive and supportive environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

This contract is for 22 hours per week (11 hours career break and 11 hours maternity leave). It will commence on 21st August 2025 and continue until the end of the 2025/26 academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons across all year groups in line with the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate curricula.
• Promote student participation in physical activity, fitness, and wellbeing, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Plan, implement and assess engaging PE programmes tailored to a wide range of abilities and interests.
• Contribute to the organisation of extracurricular sports activities, school events, and competitions.
• Promote health and wellbeing as part of the school’s wider Wellbeing Programme.
• Maintain high standards of classroom and sports facility management.
• Collaborate with colleagues in cross-curricular initiatives and whole-school planning.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the wider school community.

Essential Requirements:
• A recognised degree in Physical Education and/or a recognised teaching qualification with PE as a subject.
• Current registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland, with PE recognised as a teaching subject.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and support students of all levels.
• A passion and enthusiasm for PE.
• Commitment to inclusive practice, student wellbeing, and whole-school initiatives.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
• Experience coaching school teams or coordinating extracurricular sports programmes.
• Training or certification in areas such as First Aid, Strength and Conditioning, Yoga, Mindfulness, or Mental Health Supports.
• Familiarity with digital tools to support teaching, learning, and performance analysis in PE.
