The Board of Management of Dominican College, Galway, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Home Economics and Learning Support Teacher to join our team.
Our school prides itself on fostering a positive and supportive environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.
This contract is for 22 hours per week (12 hours of Home Economics and 10 hours of Learning Support), to commence on 21st August 2025 and continue until the end of the 2025/26 academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging and innovative Home Economics lessons to students across Junior and Senior Cycle.
• Deliver engaging and innovative Learning Support lessons to students across Junior and Senior Cycle.
• Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and well-being.
• Prepare students for state examinations, ensuring a thorough understanding of the Home Economics curriculum.
• Develop and assess student projects, ensuring adherence to both practical and theoretical elements of the Home Economics course.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the holistic development of students.
Essential Requirements:
• A recognised teaching qualification with Home Economics as a teaching subject.
• Registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
• In-depth knowledge of the Home Economics curriculum.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
• Experience teaching both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Home Economics.
• Experience teaching and supporting AEN students.
• Strong understanding of food and culinary skills, textiles, and social education components of the curriculum.
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities related to Home Economics (e.g., cookery clubs, sustainability initiatives, etc.).
