Letters of application are invited for two special school student teacher placements starting from the 3rd week in May, or after examinations have been completed, whichever is later, until the end of the Summer Programme on Friday 25th July 2025.

These placements provide the chance to gain experience in a special school environment and participate in the Department of Education-funded Summer Programme 2025. They will also provide student teachers with insight into how educational provision and continuity are achieved for children and young people experiencing symptoms of moderate to severe, enduring mental health difficulties.

They are suitable for both primary and post-primary student teachers.

By participating in these placements, student teachers will have an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of working in a special school setting, provide them with valuable practical experience and assist in preparing them for future roles within the education sector.

There is an informal application process to apply for these placements:
Interested student teachers should submit a letter expressing their interest in a placement, which should outline their vision for working during the Summer
Programme.

Linn Dara Schools are multi-denominational special hospitals schools providing educational continuity to support recovery for pupils who are admitted to either Linn Dara CAMHS Approved Centre or attending the Linn Dara CAMHS Community Teams.

We have an inpatient and an outpatient school, both located within the Cherry Orchard Hospital Campus in Dublin 10. The schools are under the patronage of the Health Service Executive (HSE).
