The Board of Management of St Patrick’s NS invites applications for the position of Principal Teacher from 1st September 2025.
St Patrick’s NS is an urban, boys’ primary school in Mallow town under the Patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Cloyne.
The roles and responsibilities for the position of Principal Teacher are aligned with the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in Circular 44/ 2019:
Leading Teaching and Learning
Managing the Organisation
Leading School Development
Developing Leadership Capacity
Applications for this position should demonstrate:
• An understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of St Patrick’s N.S. and an ability to support and promote school and parish links;
• An understanding of the importance of maintaining St Patrick’s NS as a safe, supportive and nurturing place for pupils to learn and flourish;
• An excellent level of understanding of school leadership, management and administration, as well as a proven capacity to lead policy development and implementation;
• In-depth knowledge of all aspects of teaching and learning within the revised Primary Curriculum Framework;
• Evidence of commitment to the overall social development of pupils through supportive involvement in the arts, music and sports;
• Comprehensive understanding of special education provision, including special classes for children with autism as well as an acceptance of the importance of maintaining a policy of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the school;
• Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with staff members, Board of Management, parents and guardians and the wider school community;
• The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong inter-personal skills that are required to lead and maintain a happy, active, and progressive school community.
