The Board of Management of St. Patrick’s N.S., Whitechurch welcome applicants for the position of part time caretaker for 25 hours p/w, Monday to Friday (including school closures).

The successful candidate will have:
-experience in general maintenance and ground keeping skills.
-coordinating with external agencies.
-a good understanding of caretaking duties.
-very good maintenance and DIY skills; painting, plumbing, basic electrical works.
-an ability to work independently and show initiative.
-understanding of the importance of confidentially and compliance with school Child Protection Safeguarding Policy.

Some of the responsibilities of the role include:
-general upkeep of the school by ensuring that the school facilities/rooms/grounds and garden are maintained to a high standard so as to be a safe and clean place for children and staff all year round.
-ensure that the inside of the school, classrooms office, hall, stairs etc. are well maintained.
-ensure that furniture, equipment and fittings are maintained to a high standard.
-ensure that there is an adequate supply of cleaning supplies, toilet paper etc
-upkeep of paintwork.
-health and safety responsibilities.
-identify task duties to be carried out in consultation with the Principal/Board of Management.
-opening and closing of the school/general security related duties including being a keyholder outside of school times.

The successful candidate should hold a full driver’s license and will be required to work outside the normal school opening hours to safely provide maintenance and be available to respond to alarm activations.

-The appointment is subject to garda vetting and background checks for Child Protection requirements.
