We have one vacancy for a part-time Bus Escort for our school. The Bus Escort is required to accompany a child in a bus/taxi from their home to and from the school.
The Bus Escort is responsible for the safety of the child on board the bus/taxi and will be required to provide pupil care needs including, but not limited to, assisting the child getting in and out of the vehicle, securing appropriate seat belts, etc.
The Bus Escort must be available in the mornings (8.30am - 9.30am approximately) and afternoons (1.10pm - 2.10pm during 2024-2025, and on a small number of days 12.00pm-1pm). This job is for during school term time only on days when the school is open.
The Bus Escort must make their own arrangements to and from the pick-up and drop off point at the school. However, depending on the candidate’s home address in relation to the route, it may be possible for the bus/taxi to collect the Bus Escort from their own home en route.
No official qualifications are needed. The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, caring and have good communication skills when dealing with the child, child’s parents and school staff. Experience of caring for/working with children or children with additional needs is desirable.
The Department of Education’s rate of pay is €13.40 per hour.
All appointments will be subject to Garda Vetting and TUSLA Children First.
The commencement date is as soon as possible and/or as soon as Garda Vetting is processed and received by the school.
